No. 23 Eastern Mediterranean - Spiced Rice

Who doesn't love white rice as a super easy side-dish or as a base for adding a little protein? With this recipe, you can make it exactly as written, or easily change it up by adding meat or using 1/2 white rice 1/2 wild rice for a nutty flavor.

INGREDIENTS

300 g Long Grained Rice

3 tsp No. 23 Spice Blend

2 Cloves Garlic

4 Medium Onions

3 TAB Sunflower Oil

1 TAB Extra Virgin Olive Oil

100 g Lentils (cooked)



INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare rice according to packet instructions. Drain and reserve. Chop your onions into thin half moon slices. Finely dice your garlic then heat the sunflower oil over a high heat in a shallow frying pan. Once hot add your onions and cook for a few minutes until they begin to soften. Cook until your onions begins to caramelize and darken. Remove from the heat. Once the rice and onions are cooked, combine them in a large mixing bowl.

Then add in the spices Finally, stir in the lentils and the olive oil into the rice.
