Potato Dumplings - Greek Temple

Potato Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Mashed Potatoes, chilled

  • 1/2 cup All-purpose Flour

  • 1 large Egg

  • 1 teaspoon No. 12 Greek Spice Blend

  • 2-3 slices stale Bread, finely grated

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, No. 12 Greek Spice Blend, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  2. Add enough grated bread to form a soft and pliable dough, about 1/4 cup.

  3. Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces and shape each piece into a smooth ball.

  4. Bring the water and salt to a boil in a large pot.

  5. Carefully drop the potato dumplings into the boiling water, one at a time.

  6. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the dumplings for 20-25 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.

  7. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve hot with gravy.

Note: The dumplings can be placed in an oven-proof pan and baked in a hot oven, browning if desired. This makes a wonderful alternative.
