Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking pan (typically 9x9 inches) or a cast-iron skillet with additional butter.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornmeal, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of Your Choice of Oak City Spice Blends seasoning.

3. In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup of buttermilk, 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup of melted butter.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

5. Pour the batter into the greased pan or skillet.

6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.


Hushpuppies with Your Choice of Oak City Spice Blends Seasoning

Ingredients:

- 1 cup cornmeal

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1 teaspoon Your Choice of Oak City Spice Blends Seasoning

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1 cup buttermilk

- Finely chopped onions

- Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of cornmeal, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of Your Choice of Oak City Spice Blends Seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

2. Add 1 cup of buttermilk and finely chopped onions to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).

4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if needed.

5. Use a slotted spoon to remove the hushpuppies from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

6. Serve the hushpuppies hot as a delicious side dish or snack.
