Saxon Potato Cake


  • 2 large Potatoes, peeled and grated

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour

  • 1/2 cup granulated Sugar

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened

  • 2 Egg Yolks

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt

  • 1 teaspoon No. 25 16c France

  • 1/2 cup chopped Walnuts

  • Powdered Sugar or Cocoa Powder for dusting


  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar.

  • Add potatoes, flour, egg yolks, vanilla, salt, and No. 25 16c France to the mixing bowl and mix until well combined.

  • Stir in the chopped walnuts.

  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish.

  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the pie is set

  • Cool the pie completely before dusting with powdered sugar.
