Spice Cake - Poudre Douce



Spice Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon Poudre Douce Spice Blend

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan with butter and dust it with flour.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, No. 36 Poudre Douce Spice Blend, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  4. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Start and end


with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  2. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool completely.

  3. Slice and serve the cake, dusting it with powdered sugar if desired.
