The Spicekeeper's Secret Summer Tea Trick
Ordinary iced tea has one problem: as the ice melts, the flavor fades.
Tea cubes solve that problem.
By freezing strongly brewed tea into ice cubes, every melting cube adds more flavor instead of watering your drink down. The result is a refreshing sparkling tea that stays delicious from the first sip to the last.
Yield
Approximately 16–20 tea cubes
Ingredients
For the Tea Cubes
4 cups Water (950 ml)
4 tablespoons Oak City Spice Blends Tea of Choice (20–24 g)
For Serving
1 glass Tea Cubes
8–12 ounces Sparkling Water (240–355 ml)
Sweetener, if desired
Method
Step 1: Brew the Tea
Bring the water to a boil.
Place the tea into a teapot or heat-safe container.
Pour the hot water over the tea and steep until deeply flavored. The tea should be stronger than you would normally drink because it will later be diluted by sparkling water.
Strain the tea leaves and allow the liquid to cool slightly.
Step 2: Freeze the Flavor
Carefully pour the brewed tea into ice cube trays.
Freeze until completely solid, usually overnight.
Transfer the frozen tea cubes to a freezer-safe container for long-term storage.
Step 3: Build Your Sparkling Tea
Fill a tall glass with tea cubes.
Pour sparkling water over the cubes.
Add sweetener if desired.
Allow the cubes to begin melting and enjoy.
As the cubes melt, they strengthen the drink rather than dilute it.
