Wilde Garlek Cheddar Biscuits

Yield 6 Large Bakery-Style Biscuits - Prep Time 10 minutes - Bake Time 15–18 minutes - Oven 425°F

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1–2 teaspoons Wilde Garlek seasoning

  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold butter, cubed

  • ¾ cup plain yogurt (Greek or regular)

  • ¾–1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1–2 tablespoons milk (only if needed)

  • Melted butter for brushing (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat

Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and Wilde Garlek seasoning.

3. Cut in Butter

Add cold butter cubes. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Small visible butter pieces are good — they create flakiness.

4. Add Cheese

Stir in shredded cheddar, coating it lightly in the flour mixture.

5. Add Yogurt

Add yogurt and stir gently until the dough just comes together. If the dough feels too dry, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time. The dough should be soft but not sticky.

6. Shape

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat (do not roll) to about 1 inch thick. Fold once for light layers if desired. Cut straight down with a biscuit cutter — do not twist.

Place biscuits on parchment so they are just barely touching for better rise.

7. Bake

Bake for 15–18 minutes, until tops are golden brown and bottoms are lightly browned.

Internal temperature should read 200–205°F if checking with a thermometer.

8. Finish

Brush with melted butter and a small pinch of Wilde Garlek seasoning while warm.

Allow to rest 5 minutes before serving.
